Joseph L. Kerr 92, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on June 14, 2012. Joseph was born in Upper Sandusky, Ohio and lived in Pensacola since 1958. Joseph graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1937 where he was class president during his junior year. He attended Ohio State University and International Business College prior to be inducted into the U.S. Army on March 11th, 1942. He was honorably discharged as a Technical Sergeant in July 1945 after spending 29 months in Africa and Italy in the Fifth Army Headquarters. Upon his return to the States in 1945, Joe attended Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting in 1948 and was treasurer for 2 years of Delta Sigma Phi National Fraternity. Joseph travelled as an internal auditor for National Dairy Products Corp. until 1953. From 1953 until 1959 he was employed in the accounting section of Consolidated Products Co., Danville, Illinois. Joseph moved to Pensacola in 1959 and worked for the accounting firm Saltmarsh Cleveland and Gund prior to being hired as manager of the Escambia County Teachers Credit Union (currently Members First) in July 1, 1961. Joseph retired in January 1986 after 25 years as general manager of the credit union. Joseph was preceded in death by his mother Helen Wall Kerr, his father Joe Kerr, his sister Jane P. Risley, and his brother Thomas W. Kerr. Survivors include Mary Spaulding Kerr, his devoted wife of 58 years, and his son Lawrence D. Kerr, Washington, D.C. A visitation will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on Saturday June 16th, 2012 at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Bayview Memorial Park on Scenic Highway. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to a charity of your choice.
