Obituary

Joseph Rodney "Rocky" Eddins, Sr., of Gulf Breeze, FL, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019.

Rocky as he was affectionally was born in Atmore, AL, the son of Lorelei and Tommie Eddins. He was raised on a farm where he learned honesty, integrity and a good work ethic, among many other valuable attributes that led him to a life of success as a wonderful husband to Marilyn Eddins, his wife of 59 years. He was an amazing father to four boys, Rodney, Greg, Doug, and Mike, as well as a loving grandfather to Rebecca, Blane, Erin, Rachel, and Avery.

He graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Services, served our great nation in the US Army, enjoyed fishing the rivers of Alabama and Florida, as well as Pensacola Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. He loved golf, was a private pilot, a devoted member of Gulf Breeze Masonic Lodge number 347, the Scottish Rite of Pensacola and the Hadji Shrine Temple.

Rocky enjoyed family more than anything else and still found time to become an icon in the funeral business in Pensacola, Mobile and the surrounding areas. Above all, Rocky loved Jesus and enjoyed his time of prayer with his savior and attended Trinity Presbyterian Church in Pensacola. He will be loved and missed forever.

He is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Rodney "Rod" Eddins, II and wife, Marilyn Joyce Gunter Eddins.

Rocky is survived by sons, Greg Eddins (Tammy), Doug Eddins (Stephanie) and Mike Eddins (Libbie); as well as grandchildren, Rebecca Eddins, Blane Eddins, Erin Eddins, Rachel Eddins and Avery Eddins.
