Joseph Howell Sanford, age 96, of Pensacola, FL passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009 in Washington, DC. He was born in Red Level, AL on November 10, 1913 and was raised in Portland, FL. He was a 60 year member of the Masonic order and recently became a member of Pensacola Lodge #42, F&AM. Mr. Sanford was also a member of the Pensacola York Rite Bodies. Preceding him in death was his wife, Eleanor L. (Price) Sanford; a daughter, Elvia L. DuVall and a son, Joseph Lucius Sanford. His survivors include his son, David Terriell Sanford; a sister, Mary Lou Rich; brothers, Dan and Roy Sanford and numerous grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at 11am with a service beginning at 12:00 noon at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Rev. Ken Griffin will officiate. Burial follows at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pensacola York Rite Foundation, 189 W.
