Joseph W. Clark, 87, of Milton, FL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. He was a great husband, father, and friend that always put his family ahead of himself. Joe was dearly loved and will be missed very much.
He was born in Terre Haute, IN on April 24, 1931, to Joseph and Mary Clark.
After graduating high school, Joe worked multiple jobs before joining the U.S. Marine Corps where he proudly served as a radio operator during the Korean War. Upon being honorably discharged in 1952, he found work in Terre Haute as a lab technician. Later that same year, he met and married the love of his life, Elizabeth "Jan" Evitt, ultimately he moved to Illinois and worked for several companies as a transport operator before becoming a transport operator for Consolidated Freightways where he worked for 20+ years before retiring.
In retirement Joe and Jan became full-time RV enthusiasts and traveled the United States going from campground to campground or simply stopping to visit family. In 2007, they came off the road for the final time and decided to settle in the Florida Panhandle.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary C. Laurent and Joseph C. Clark and both sisters, Mary-Annette and Patricia.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth J. Clark; two sons, Joseph (Laurel) of Oklahoma City, OK and John (Amy) of Houston, TX; one daughter, Elizabeth (Ed) of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Cortege will leave Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 11:00am Thursday, May 31, 2018 for a Graveside Service at 11:30am at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
