Obituary

Joyce Ann Wallace Kelley, 91, of Pensacola, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

She was born on July 17, 1933, in Mobile, AL, to Roshier Lee Wallace and Dealva (Dee) Shannon Wallace. Joyce attended Murphy High School where she was a majorette and graduated in 1949.

Joyce was the 1957 Mardi Gras queen in Mobile, AL. "She was crowned queen representing the Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association, her reign as queen in 1957 underscores the important role women played in these vibrant traditions, showcasing beauty, stateliness, and cultural representation."

Joyce married the love of her life, David Paul Kelley, on August 15, 1953. Together, their greatest joys were their sons, Rick Alan, Larry David and Jerry Lee, and grandchildren.

In her younger years Joyce loved boating, enjoying the beach, fishing, cooking, playing tennis, jazzercise and playing the piano. Joyce was a member of the Pensacola Krewe of Marionettes. Throughout her life she enjoyed being with her family, following the weather and staying up to date with the latest news.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Valerie Wallace Hutter; brother, Jerry Wallace; niece, Lisa Marie Wallace and nephew, Michael Hutter.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Rick Alan Kelley, Larry David Kelley (Cheryl) and Jerry Lee Kelley (Peggy); grandchildren, Brittany Hankins (David), Asti Russell (Addison), Arianna Kelley and Paul Luis Kelley; Great-grandchildren, Alice Grace Hankins, Caroline Hankins, Raynor Russell and Roma Russell; brothers, David Harold Wallace (Sondra), Odie Carroll Wallace, (Jean); Sister-in-law, Jossette Wallace; Daughter-in-law, Lydia Bernes Kelley, and many beloved nieces & nephews, and dear friend Paul Meyer.

A Visitation will be held at 9:00 am on Monday July 21, 2025, at The Basilica St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in the Parish Hall, 21 N. Palafox Street Pensacola, FL, until a Funeral Service begins at 9:45 am in the main sanctuary, officiated by Father Joe Fowler.

Immediately following the service, there will be an escorted police procession to Barrancas National Cemetery (Naval Air Station, Pensacola) for a burial to take place at 11:00 am.

Reception will follow after the Graveside Service at The Basilica St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 21 N. Palafox Street Pensacola, FL 32502, Parish Hall.

The Pallbearers will be Paul Luis Kelley, David Hankins, Kevin Etheridge, Matthew Cagle, John Wallace and David Wallace.

Honorary Pallbearer is Addison Russell.
