Joyce Garman McCoy Hoover, 86, of Pensacola, FL passed away, Monday, March 3, 2025.

Joyce was born on November 16,1938 in Altoona, PA to Wilford O.H. Garman and Josephine Hill Garman.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William H. McCoy, after his passing, Joyce married Stevin R. Hoover on October 10, 2014. She is survived by her brother, Paul Garman (Judy); and her sister, Linda Ratajeski (Roy), and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce was an exceptional cook and loved painting, animals (especially her Yorkshire Terriers,) horses, and fine antiques. She was an active member of the Campus Church at Pensacola Christian College, where her late husband, Professor McCoy taught physical chemistry. She and her present husband, Stevin sang in Rejoice Choir at the Campus Church.

The thread woven through Joyce's life tapestry was the scripture 1 Corinthians 15:22 "In Christ shall all be made alive." Joyce inherited from her pastor father, a strong belief that the Bible is the inspired word of God and that it is the supreme guide and final authority in matters of this life. Her father was instrumental in starting the military Chaplains Ministry Associated with the Associated Gospel Churches brought light and love (AGC.)

She lived every day demonstrating the qualities of character as preached by St. Paul in the book of Galatians "The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, and self-control."

Joyce was a virtuous, Godly woman who was Stevin's steadfast friend and many others. Her poise and grace brought light and love to any room she entered.

A funeral cortege will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 9:30am Wednesday, March 12, 2025, for a Graveside Service at 10:00am at Barrancas National Cemetery, Chaplain John Eastman will officiate.
