Joyce E. Ninnemann, 76 of Pensacola, FL died on Thursday, June 18, 2009 as a result of reoccurring cancer. Joyce was born on October 13, 1932, in Platte, SD, the daughter of Irvy and Rachel Kittleson Rasmussen. She attended a rural country grade school and later graduated from Platte High School. She attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD and graduated in 1954 with BA Degrees in English and Music. After graduation, Joyce accepted a teaching position in the Archer, Iowa School System. In 1955 she married Gene Ninnemann of Platte, SD. They made their home at various locations throughout the U.S. including Ames, Iowa; Omaha and Millard, Nebraska; Redlands and Lompoc, California; and Springfield, Virginia. During her career, Joyce worked for the U.S. Department of Energy, the Department of the Navy and the Defense Finance Accounting Service in Pensacola, FL. Joyce was involved in numerous Pensacola activities/organizations including the Red Hat Darlings, Water Aerobics, Ronald McDonald House, PTC Seniors Club, Beta Sigma Phi (2008-2009 Woman of the Year), Fun Bridge Club, Gulf Coast Chorale and Pensacola Runners Association especially liking the McGuires Saint Patricks Day Run. Joyce is survived by her husband, Gene Ninnemann of Beavercreek, OH; her children, their spouses and families; daughters, Trudy (Steve) Peirce of Riverview, FL, Tanya (Bill) Keeling of Mechanicsville, VA; sons, Thad (Brenda) Ninnemann of Mills River, NC, Todd Ninnemann of Lewisburg, WV; seven grandchildren; Uncle/Aunt, Glenn (Polly) Rasmussen of Northridge, CA and a host of friends in Pensacola as well as friends and relatives in many parts of the U.S. Memorial Visitation will be held 1-2pm Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with a Memorial Service to begin at 2:00pm.
