Obituary

Judith K. McCabe, 83, of Gulf Breeze, FL died Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Gulf Breeze Hospital.

Judy was born in Hartford CT in 1939 and graduated from Connecticut College for Women in 1961. She and her young family lived in New England until relocating to Gulf Breeze in 1972.  She arrived as a true Connecticut Yankee. The culture difference did not keep her from cementing life-long friendships with her neighbors, such was her sense of humor and giving spirit. Judy continued a long and exemplary career in real estate as a sales agent and then a broker upon settling in Gulf Breeze. She transitioned into property restoration and management before securing a community/condominium association manager (CAM) license. As a CAM, she guided some of the largest condominiums on Pensacola Beach through the restoration and reconstruction after Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis. She eventually returned to sales and was only semi-retired at the time of her passing. Judy was also devoted to recreation league sports. Before her children reached high school, she was a member of the Gulf Breeze Sports Association which oversaw the sports at Gulf Breeze's "Shark Park". Judy coached softball teams and cheerleading squads for the GBSA. She also had the vision to convince the GBSA that soccer would be a good fit for Gulf Breeze. She was an American Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor. Dozens of Gulf Breeze kids learned anywhere from basic swimming skills to advanced life saving techniques in her backyard pool.

Judy is survived by her son, Tim McCabe (Vicky); her daughter, D'Arsey Samuels; granddaughter, Alyssa J. Samuels all of Gulf Breeze; her sister, Carole K. Sylvester of Larkspur, CA and numerous nieces, grandnieces, nephews and grandnephews.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the Memorial Mass begins at 11:00 am on Monday, November 7, 2022, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Gulf Breeze, FL.

A wake and celebration of Judy's life will be held after the Mass at Paddy O'Leary's on Pensacola Beach.

The family would like to thank the staff of Gulf Breeze Hospital and Baptist Hospital for their personal and compassionate care in Judy's last days.
