Judith Korn “Judie” Zitzewitz, 82, of Pensacola, FL passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Judie was a strong, spirited, and gracefully spicy woman. Determined and independent, she approached life with boundless energy, curiosity, and a deep devotion to the people she loved. When Judie had an opinion, no one ever had to wonder what it was, and those who knew her appreciated the honesty, humor, and unmistakable personality she brought to every occasion.

Her family was always her greatest source of pride. She was especially proud to be both a Navy wife and a Navy mother. Her life with her beloved husband, Rob Zitzewitz, took them to many wonderful places, including Chicago, Italy, Napa Valley, and eventually Pensacola, which became their final home together.

Judie and Rob had two children, Dave Zitzewitz (Sole) and Robyn Rose. She was also a very proud grandmother, lovingly known as “Gagi,” to Bernard and Benjamin Zitzewitz and Emma Rose. She instilled in each of them a strong sense of responsibility, curiosity about the world, and an appreciation for travel and different cultures. Each grandchild had the special opportunity to accompany her on cruises through Europe, creating treasured memories that will remain with them always.

Judie shared a deep and lasting affection for her brother, Steve Korn, and his wife, Lolly, as well as for all her nieces and nephews. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with them, took great joy in their lives, and always looked forward to seeing them.

Never one to sit still, Judie remained active and engaged throughout her life. While living in California, she owned and operated her own accounting business, which she continued for many years after moving to Pensacola. Retirement, for Judie, was less a destination than a gentle suggestion.

Judie was a passionate and talented cook and an avid wine taster. She was also a loyal and generous friend who treasured the friendships she built throughout her life. In her later years, she devoted much of her time and energy to charitable organizations, including PACE Center for Girls, Impact 100, and Marionettes while continuing to share her love of wine with her friends in AWS and the Agapi Wine Club. She also cherished her connection with longtime friends from the US Naval Academy.

Following the loss of Rob, her husband and great companion in life, Judie was fortunate to share her final three years with Jim Roorbach. Jim was a loving and meaningful presence in her life, and together with his children, he gave Judie the unexpected gift of another family to love.

Judie lived fully, loved fiercely, worked diligently, traveled widely, and cared deeply. She will be remembered for her strength, generosity, adventurous spirit, and, of course, the special touch of spice that made her unmistakably Judie. Judie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
