Julia "Judy" R. Benton, 86, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020.

Mrs. Benton was born on December 15, 1933 in Charlotte, NC. Judy was an avid volunteer with over 18,000 hours serving as a case manager with Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. Her education came through the relationships she had with others as she listened to people's stories and she gained valuable insight to myriad cultures through her travels. Her guidance and perspective were sought after and appreciated by those who knew her. She was a fine southern woman until Auburn football started each fall. Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and surrogate mom/grandmother to many.

Mrs. Benton is preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Eva Ransom; her husband, Roderick E. Benton; their son, Robert L. Benton; her sister, Dorothy Weaver and her brother, Perry Ransom, Jr.

She is survived by daughters, Debora Bishop (Tom) of Spanish Fort, AL, Angi Brown (Tony) of Pace, FL and Perian St. George (Robert) of Spicewood, TX; and grandchildren, Matthew Bishop (Jessica), Benton Brown, Jessi Brown, Krystal Brown Baker (Stuart), Chris St. George (Alecia), and Justin St. George (Marie).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10am Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jim Dietz officiating. A procession to Barrancas National Cemetery for a graveside service will follow.
