Jo Marilyn "Judy" Davis Braden, 93, of Pensacola, FL passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Judy was born in Louisville, KY on April 18, 1930, and where she was raised with her younger brother Charles by her parents. She lived in Muskogee, OK, Birmingham, AL "Roll Tide", Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, and Perdido Key, FL. She attended Hanover College and became a lab technician where she met Elmer Davis at General Hospital in Louisville. They married on December 19, 1951, and had four children.
Judy was a natural at interior design and assisted Tip McAlpin at McAlpin Interiors after her kids were grown. Her hobbies included arranging, rearranging, and rearranging furniture, traveling, and reading. She especially looked forward to the family gathering each year at Perdido Key on Thanksgiving with her brother, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was always a great friend to young and old. She had an ongoing bridge group which she enjoyed weekly games and lunches. She cherished the family home and the beautiful landscaping, including towering azalea bushes, flourishing hydrangeas, camellias, and other tropical plants. Judy was an active member of First United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nuby and Edythe Greer; her first husband, Charles Elmer Davis, MD; second husband, Fred Braden, MD; as well as her oldest son, Chuck Davis.
Survivors include her three children, Bruce (Karen), Becky (Scott), and Alan (Karen); beloved grandchildren, Erika (Hannah), Stephen (Kimberly), Sarah, Zach, and Adam; great grandchildren, Beckham, Hudson, Parker, Addison, and Brooks; as well as her cherished brother, Charles Greer, who was very involved and always attended the Thanksgiving family reunion each year at Perdido Key.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, February 4, 2024, at First United Methodist Church, Pensacola, with Dr. Geoffrey Lentz officiating. A private family graveside ceremony will be held at Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley, AL.
