On, Sunday, September 25, 2011 surrounded by family and loved ones Judy entered the Kingdom of Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Judy was born to the late Shelton and Golie Davis on August 4, 1941 in the farming community of Lakeland, Georgia in Lanier County. She graduated from Warren A. Candler School of Nursing in 1962 and Duke University School of Anesthesia in 1964. She moved to Pensacola to begin her career as a nurse anesthetist with Escambia General Hospital. She married that same year, H. E. Ellis, Sr., and began her family. Later, in 1988 she completed her Bachelor of Nursing at the University of South Alabama. She was an awesome mother and an excellent nurse anesthetist. A jewel of a mother she was and will remain forever in the hearts of her children and grandchildren. Her career extended 47 years, a profession she loved and had many peers to whom she was endeared. Her country-girl clichés humored us all. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed traveling both with family and friends. She was a follower of Christ and devoted to her church, Gadsden Street United Methodist, where she made many eternal friendships. She served there for several years as a Sunday school teacher for the Mary Martha class. The family expresses a special thanks to all those friends and her co-workers who assisted our mama and helped the family move through this loss. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her children Deedra (Ed) Miller of Gulf Breeze, Ed (Kristie) Ellis of Gulf Breeze, Tarra (Ozzy) Teeters of Cantonment; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Mark and Clinton Miller; Kiersten and Luke Ellis; Kalyn and Logan Hundley; her sisters, Sybil Doan and Anna Carter and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Friday, September 30, 2011 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 10:00am Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Gadsden Street United Methodist Church with family to receive friends from 9-10am prior to the service. Pastor Bobby Ellisor will officiate. Following the service burial will take place at Bayview Memorial Park. At the conclusion of the burial a reception will be held at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gadsden Street United Methodist Church, 901 E. Gadsden St., Pensacola, FL 32501. HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
