Julia Catheryn Baker, age 91, of Milton, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2021, in Milton. Julia was born on November 25, 1929 in Opp Alabama to the late Ezra and Lemma Coon Russell. In addition to her parents Julia was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Delma Ray Baker whom she married on December 24, 1949; Two brothers, Joseph Russell and Maxwell Russell.
Julia was a loving mother and grandmother who graduated from Opp High School and was of the Christian Faith. She retired in 1986 from a career as a textile machine operator at Monsanto. Julia enjoyed sewing, quilting , crocheting and loved caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as "Granny".
Those left to cherish her memory include, her three children, Judy (Jim) Labit, Gail Baker Adams, Gary (Renee) Baker; nine grandchildren, Richard Kilpatrick, Jason Kilpatrick, Heather Goodnight, Elizabeth Adams-Brooking, Abigail Adams, John Adams, Eric Baker, Nicole Clark and Alyssa Baker Williams; fifteen great-grandchildren, Kirsten Hurley, Kaylen Kilpatrick, Fianna Kilpatrick, Deagan Kilpatrick, Kinsey Kilpatrick, Hannah Goodnight, Taylor Goodnight, Jacob Goodnight, Joseph Adams, Daniel Baker, Emily Baker, Kennedy Baker, Jocelyn Baker, Nora Clark and Owen Clark; two siblings, Betty Lowry and Gerald Russell.
A memorial service to celebrate Julia Catheryn Baker's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Mike Mashburn, officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Due to the pandemic, Julia was laid to rest alongside her loving husband at Barrancas National Cemetery on January 13, 2021.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pruitthealth-Santa Rosa for nine years of dedicated care.
