Obituary

Julian E. Crowell, Jr., 91, of Milton, FL passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016. Julian was born in Ft. Worth, TX and his family moved to West Point, MS and he resided there until he graduated from high school and joined the Navy in 1943. He attended College at Millsaps in Jackson, MS, Tulane University in New Orleans and received his commission at Navy Supply School at Harvard University. He was stationed at Long Beach, CA and then aboard the USS Wharton as Disbursing Officer until it was decommissioned at Bremerton, WA. The USS Wharton was part of the Task Force under Operation Crossroads, the first atomic bomb test at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific. Upon returning home, he obtained his college degree at Mississippi State University.

He met and married Mary Jo Allen in June, 1949.

He was hired by National Biscuit Company in August 1950. He started in Memphis, TN, moved to Meridian, MS, Nashville, TN, Birmingham, AL, the general office in New York City, Orlando, FL and to Pensacola in 1969 as Branch/Sales Manager.

Julian retired from Nabisco in April, 1986 and continued to live in Pensacola.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Allen Crowell in June, 2000 and their oldest son, David Allen Crowell in November, 1994 and youngest son, Patrick Ryan Crowell in February, 2013.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Kelly D. Crowell and 4 grandchildren, Brittany Crowell, Phillip Crowell, Ryan Crowell, II and David Ethan Crowell along with a nephew and his wife, William and Mary Allen of Brunswick, GA.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am until the Funeral Service at 10:00am Saturday 17, 2016 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.  Entombment will be at Bayview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Palmer Home for Children, P. O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39703; or Cokebury United Methodist Church, Operating Fund, 5725 N. 9th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504.
