June Ulmer Harper, age 86, of Lancaster, PA, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 2, 2017 at The Mennonite Home, Lancaster, PA.

She is survived by her husband, Warren Eugene Harper of the Harper and Dawkins families in Pensacola, FL; son, Michael W. Harper of Bowie, MD and daughter, Letitia (James) MacPherson of Riva, MD. She is fondly remembered by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Born on June 26, 1931 in Lancaster, PA, June was the daughter of Jeanette B.Ulmer Pontz and Ray H. Ulmer. She was a graduate of Manhiem Township High School (1949), Millersville State Teachers College (1953) and attended the University of Florida (1953-1954), where she met her husband of 62 years. June's career as a Physical Education teacher began at Elizabethtown College, Elizabethtown, PA (1954-1955) and continued later at Meadowbrook Elementary School, Bowie, MD.

June was a talented athlete participating in all sports, but particularly swimming and field hockey. She swam competitively in her youth and was one of the founding members of the Dolphin synchronized swimming club (1951) at Millersville State Teachers College. Furthermore, she enjoyed reading, traveling, movies and theater, sewing, cooking, and especially spending time at her beloved beach house down by the shore in Ocean City, NJ. Most of all she loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

A Graveside service, officiated by her grandson-in-law, Edward L. Martin, and interment will be held at St. John's Cemetery, Pensacola, FL on Friday September 22, 2017 at 11:00am.
