IN LOVING MEMORY OF
June Killinger
Ramsey
March 16, 1941 – December 23, 2016
June Killinger Ramsey, 75, Pensacola, passed away at home on Dec. 23, 2016, with her children beside her.
June was born March 16, 1941, in Georgetown, SC to the late Clarence Eugene Killinger and Mildred Kelly Killinger.
The Killinger family moved to Pensacola in 1945 after the war, where June's father owned a marine supply and engine business, which became Killinger Marine after June's brother, Gene, took over the business after their father's death in 1958.
June attended Pensacola High School and Huntington College. She received her master's degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and her Ph.D. From Florida State University. June was a professor of biology at Pensacola Junior College for more than 30 years.
After marrying, June and her husband moved to Hawaii and later San Diego. June returned to Pensacola to proudly raise her two children, son William Russell Ramsey, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, and daughter Kelly (Michael) Ramsey MacLeod of Gulf Breeze.
June also was passionate for marine biology and she loved all sea creatures, as well as dogs and cats. She also loved to travel, sail, scuba dive, snorkel and she could always find her happy place on the water.
Nothing made her as happy, however, as when she was with her children, Will and Kelly, and her family. June raised her children on her own and it was her great pleasure to watch their accomplishments.
June also was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and was a longtime member of the Pensacola Yacht Club
In addition to her children, June leaves behind her brother, Douglas Eugene Killinger of Gulf Breeze, niece Lisa (Ron) Killinger Farmer of Atlanta, GA, nephew, Clarence Killinger of Pensacola and niece Lori (Greg) Killinger Globetti and her great-nephew, Caleb, of Fairhope, AL.
Services for June will be at 12:30 Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with visitation immediately before at noon. Burial will be in Bayview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Gulf Coast Kid's House or to the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center.
The family wants to acknowledge special thanks to Dr. Anita Westafer for her many years of care, Covenant Hospice, the loving caregivers that helped care for June in her last weeks and Sacred Heart Cancer Center.
