Karen, widow of Russell Patrick Cosgrove, daughter of Dorothy Ann D'Imperio (Danielson) and Robert G. D'Imperio was born "Karen Lynn D'Imperio '' at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ on May 28, 1960. Karen grew up in a military family. Together they lived and traveled to many parts of the world. Her family resided in Pennsauken, NJ until 1962 when the US Navy transferred them to Kenitra, Morocco, where her sister, Lisanne, was born. While there, her grandmother, Dorothy Danielson visited and they toured together through Europe, including Gibraltar, Spain, France, Switzerland, and Germany until returning to Kenitra where they remained until January 1965. The family was then transferred to Bainbridge, MD and resided in Brookside Park, Newark, DE. From Brookside, the family transferred to Nicosia, Cypress where they lived until 1970. The US Navy then transferred the family to Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX for a very short time. From there, the US Navy transferred the family to Pensacola where she resided in and around the Pensacola area, making the area her home for the rest of her life.
Karen graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Pensacola, FL in 1978, and attended Pensacola Junior College. Karen had been a successful licensed Realtor in the state of Florida for the last 31 years, most recently with Coldwell Banker, where she was very loved and respected by both colleagues and clients. Prior to her real estate career, she enjoyed a successful career in banking in the Pensacola area.
Due to Karen's outgoing warm personality and great sense of humor, she made friends easily and had countless friends, many of them remained with her lifelong. Karen was very passionate about her personal relationships and loved to send her friends and family "Happy Mail". Her cards and letters were always thoughtful and beautifully written on darling stationary, stickers, and stamps to match! Karen didn't wait for a special occasion to send these cards and letters; She sent them out weekly when thinking about the people she cherished in her life. Friends, family, and colleagues will forever remember these heartfelt written treasures from Karen.
Karen was a wanderlust who enjoyed traveling, flowers, plants, decorating her spaces and her beautiful backyard paradise. Karen had a special touch with everything that she set her mind to. She took great pride in her home, making it beautiful, comforting, and welcoming. She was an excellent cook who loved cooking and entertaining family and friends. It was not unlike Karen to show up at your doorstep with a quiche and a written note.
