IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen Madeline
Hilbert Pandolfi
January 6, 1953 – May 16, 2017
Karen Madeline Pandolfi passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the age of 64 and is in the arms of the Lord.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Dr. Gerard Henry and Leona Madeline Hilbert.
Karen was raised in Pensacola before earning a nursing degree from Duke University in 1975. She initially enjoyed pediatric nursing before moving on to a career in public health as a visiting nurse. Karen lived for years in the northeast where every weekend found her out hiking, biking, sailing, snowshoeing or cross country skiing, depending on the season. She was no stranger to adventure as she biked from Maine to Florida and hitchhiked across the Sahara Desert.
Unfortunately, Karen was forced to battle chronic illness for the last 25 years of her life. She found joy in following her daughter's golfing career and in the simple kindness of others. Her persistence and determination in the face of extreme adversity was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Jennifer; brothers, Jerry
(Brenda) Hilbert, Tommy Hilbert and Paul (Elizabeth) Hubert; sisters, Kristin (Karl) Sirotkin, Caroline (Chris) Farrugia, Cathy (Gerry) Barker and Jeanne (Vic) Lazzari.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, July 29, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1700 Conway Dr., Pensacola, FL 32503 with Msgr. James Flaherty, celebrant.
The family would like to offer sincere thanks and gratitude to all the health care workers, doctors, nurses and allied health professionals involved with Karen over the years.
