Karen Elizabeth Brisch Saucier, 57, native and resident of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Thursday, January 15th with her family by her side. Karen was born on February 20, 1957 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida to Mr. & Mrs. John & Eunice Brisch. She lived many places throughout her life, but always knew Pensacola as her home. Karen loved the beautiful white sandy beaches of her home town. She was a graduate of Escambia High School in 1975 and was an active member of many clubs and associations throughout her high school experience. Karen grew up in her family's business, so naturally took the position of manager and buyer of Brisch's Bridal Shop for many years. She wrote for Vows Magazine and a training manual for bridal shops that many still use today. Karen was a consultant for numerous bridal shops throughout the southeast, doing everything from helping to choose the right building, to buying all the inventory, to training the staff, to opening the doors for business. She was so involved in every step of the process, helping with all that she could so her client's new bridal shop would be a sure success. Karen was the Vice President of the Bridal Marketing Association of America. She would coordinate all of Brisch's exquisite fashion shows and was a wedding director. Karen loved making each bride feel special and was dedicated to making each wedding something to remember. She was so talented and creative. In 2004, Karen was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. After a mastectomy of her right breast, the cancer returned in 2005 in her brain. Karen underwent 3 brain surgeries, 3 consecutive years to remove the growing tumor. The last surgery took most of the use of her right side. Karen worked hard to be able to use her right side again and eventually was able to walk with a cane at times. The cancer did not stop its aggressive path through Karen's body. She had cancer in her lungs and chest wall. She was continually treated with many surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy. Karen fought her battle with cancer for 11 years. She never gave up hope or lost the beautiful smile that most will remember her by. She loved her family, friends and mostly her children and grandchildren. She was a dedicated and loving person to all that had the joy of knowing her. Karen was a lifetime member of Westwood Christian Church and an active member Grace Community Church. Karen is preceded in death by her beloved son, Jason Andrew Saucier; her father, John W. Brisch and her aunt and uncle, Joe and Linda Campbell.
