IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Katherine Brewer
Clarke
October 12, 1944 – December 11, 2023
Katherine Brewer Clarke, 79, of Pensacola, FL, joined Jesus in heaven on Monday, December 11, 2023. She was born in New Orleans, LA, October 12, 1944, to John and Rosalie Brewer.
Katherine, the most loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, is survived by her husband, Charles; daughters, Colleen, Karen, Carol, and Michal; son, Charles, III (C.W.); grandkids, Christian, Sidney, Brodie, Ceci, Will, Emma, Brooke, Piper, and Calvin.
Katherine graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in medical technology where she met Charles, and they started their grand adventure. Charlie and Katherine moved to Virginia Beach, VA where Charlie was stationed in the Navy. They welcomed Colleen during their time in Virginia Beach. They were transferred to Atlanta where Karen joined the family. With strong roots in Louisiana, they moved back home, settling in Mandeville for about a year before moving out to Folsom where they would build their home and set up their homestead. Carol joined the family as they were moving to Folsom. Folsom was home for 17 years, during which time, Michal and C.W. joined the Clarke clan. Devout members of Covington Presbyterian church and Trinity Evangelical Free Church, both Charlie and Katherine were always volunteering to teach Sunday school and serve the church family. They taught Sunday school and youth group and instilled in their children through their model a love of God and a servant heart.
After selling the Folsom house and moving into Covington for a year, the decision was made to take the Clarke adventure on the road. Charlie, Katherine, Michal, and C.W. set off on their "Grand Adventure" traveling from place to place in the trailer and seeing all of the points of interest from Florida all the way up to Maine. Katherine homeschooled Michal and C.W. along the way. They eventually decided to settle back down in Pensacola, FL where they continued their adventure of service to God and the church family. They quickly ensconced themselves as members of McIlwain Presbyterian Church. Katherine taught the preschool class "Scooters" for over 20 years and was an integral part of the planning and implementation of vacation bible school. She led bible studies for the women's group. She served on many church and medical mission trips and was an integral member in the McIlwain missions committee. She arranged flowers for the Sunday service and would break up the big arrangement to make smaller arrangements for the home bound church members. She regularly took part in the preparation of church suppers. Service was her love language. She was also a proud member of the PSC Pirate swim club. As her grandson said, "KK is swimming with Jesus."
Katherine was a ray of shining light for anyone who came in contact with her. She cared for her friends and cherished those special moments of fellowship and prayer. She pointed everyone to Jesus even when she didn't realize it, in her actions, her words, and her love.
Even in the end, she never wanted to take credit for anything but instead always pointed to her Jesus as the source of love, compassion, empathy and care.
Katherine will forever be remembered for her love and loyalty to our Heavenly Father, her husband, and her family.
