Obituary

Katherine V. Dixon, 93, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022.

Katherine was born on January 26, 1929, in San Jose, CA to Victor and Katherine (Kravich) Mevio. She was a Navy wife for 20 years. Katherine and her husband, Maurice, were missionaries in Hawaii on Kalaupapa Leprosy Colony. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pensacola 1963-1978, Cross & Crown Church, and Immanuel Baptist Church where she served as a greeter to many and was known to all as "The Hat Lady". She was also a teacher at the Peter Pan School for Special Needs for many years. Katherine had a close relationship with Jesus Christ and enjoyed in depth bible study. She was a faithful prayer warrior for all who needed God's blessings and support. Her home was always the welcoming gathering place for family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice E. Dixon, Jr.; two sons, Timothy Ray Dixon and Maurice E. Dixon, III.

Survivors include her daughters, Diana Kay McKay and Cyndee Dixon Knowles; son-in-law, Larry Knowles; daughter-in-law, Anne Dixon Shirley; grandchildren, Catrina Dixon Haynes, Jennifer Jones, Alex McKay, Lindsey Parker-Dixon, Maurice Dixon IV, Tamara Dixon, Kaytlyn Knowles Wilkes, and Loran Knowles; as well as 16 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Private family graveside service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery, with Rev. Clain Roberts officiating.
