Kathleen Beatrice
(Calder) Stenicka
November 6, 1928 – December 19, 2017
Kathleen Beatrice (Calder) Stenicka, 89, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at her home in Pensacola, FL after a short battle with pneumonia and shingles.
She was born to Beatrice and David Beveridge Calder in Balmullo, Scotland in 1928.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1940; her mother in 1993; her sister, Sheilah and her husband, Francis J Stenicka in 2016.
Kathleen graduated SRN from St. Bartholomew's Hospital School of Nursing, London, England in 1953.
Shortly thereafter, she met and married Frank, and they emigrated to Newfoundland, Canada.
Three sons were born; John while residing for 2 years in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, then followed Patrick James and Lawrence Cameron in Calgary, Alberta, where they lived for almost 20 years.
In 1976 the family moved to Virginia, where Frank worked briefly as an Emergency Room doctor in Chesapeake, VA prior to establishing an office for the practice of Family Medicine in Portsmith, VA.
Kathleen worked alongside Frank for the next 25 years as his nurse and office manager until they closed the office in June 2002.
Kathleen enjoyed traveling, especially to England and her native Scotland to visit her family. She loved thoroughbred horse racing, an interest she learnt from Frank, sewing, reading and working in the garden.
She was a long time member of The Church of the Resurrection in Portsmouth, VA, and derived much joy from being a member of the choir for nearly 35 years.
She is survived by her 3 sons and 3 grandchildren; Christopher, Nicholas and Natasha Standley; her niece, Elspeth Harris-Bushel and nephew, David Smith in England. Private Family services with entombment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Pensacola, FL.
