Obituary

Marsha Kathy Rock, born and raised in Pensacola, FL, passed away on Sunday afternoon, October 2, 2022.

Kathy was born to Thomas Moore and Elaine (Moore) Weaver on March 14, 1956. A proud Pensacola Local, Kathy served for over 20 years as a dedicated civil servant of the federal judiciary as judicial assistant to the Honorable Margaret Catharine (Casey) Rodgers. Prior to joining the Court, Kathy and Casey worked together in private practice where Kathy was well known and respected by members of the Bar. She retired from the Court in 2021 after being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and remained in the Pensacola area. A loving daughter, sister, and mother, blessed with intelligence, grace, immense strength, and endless talent, Kathy enjoyed cooking, gardening, a nice glass of wine, traveling on adventures with her closest friends, crocheting blankets for all of the newborn babies of friends and family in her life, and relaxing in the sun on the sandy beach. Kathy's greatest joy in life came from spending time with her wonderful daughters, beautiful grandchildren, and adoring pets. She also enjoyed spending time with her daughters' friends and their growing families, all of which lovingly referred to her as GiGi or K-Rock. Kathy will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and colleagues.

Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Moore; her step-father, Dewitt Weaver; and her niece, Jessica Moore.

Kathy is survived by her mother, Elaine Weaver; sisters, Janet Rodgers (Jerry) and Laura Byrd (Michael); brother, Michael Moore (Jodi); her daughters, Stephanie Damasceno (Victor) and Andrea Brazel (Josh); her nephews Derek Bradley, Daniel Kingswell, and Andrew Kingswell; her niece, Rachel Sonnier (Cody); and her grandchildren, Lucas Damasceno, Alex Damasceno, Molly McKay; honorary grandchildren, Brayden Vaughn, and Baylee Vaughn; her extended family from the Atlanta area; and her courthouse family.

Visitation will be held 2:00pm until the Memorial Service to begin at 3:00pm Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Rami Owera and the caring staff at the Woodlands Medical Specialists for their outstanding care and treatment of Kathy during the past year.
