Kathleen Mary "Kathy" Yochum, 81, of Pensacola, FL, died peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025.

Kathy was born on September 17, 1943, in Pittsburgh, PA to Norbert and Wilma Yochum. Kathy visited Pensacola in 1973 and decided this was going to be her new hometown, 52 years later she still loved living in this area. She loved the water and walking on the beach collecting shells. One of her favorite boating days was to go out to the pass and watch the USS Lexington make its way from the Gulf to NAS. Kathy loved walking through East Hill especially in the spring when the azaleas were blooming. She may have left Pittsburgh for Pensacola, but she was still a fan of the Steelers, Pirates and Iron City Beer.

Kathy was a medical technologist specializing in chemistry for over 40 years. After moving here, she worked in the laboratory at Sacred Heart Hospital for 32 years, retiring in 2007. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart for over 50 years. Her family and friends knew her faith was absolutely the most important part of her life. Special thanks to her Cathedral family for all their prayers and support. We now have a very special angel watching over us.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Wilma; her brother, Frank; sisters, Mary Ann Seskey and Cecilia Horn.

Survivors include her brothers, John (Gloria), Thomas (Arlene), Daniel (Pam), Charles (Judy), Michael (Sharon) and sister, Teresa; as well as many nieces, nephews, her special great niece, Natalie, and her faithful friend and caregiver, Linda.

A very special thank you to Deacon Paul Graaff, his wife Linda for all the visits and especially their friendship. The family would also like to thank, Emerald Coast Hospice for their dedication in helping her through this difficult part of life, and nurses, Janna, Penny, Leigh, Delia and CNA, Nianna for their care and kindness.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00am until a Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11:00am Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, with Fr. Stephen Olson celebrant. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30am prior to the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alpha Center or St. Vincent DePaul.
