IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kelly Kathleen
Donovan
May 7, 1978 – October 29, 2021
Kelly Kathleen Donovan was born May 7, 1978, in Las Vegas, NV, to Michael (Mick) and Susan Donovan. Kelly passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 29, 2021, at her home in Pensacola, FL.
Survivors include her parents; brother, Corey (Jennifer); niece, Wren, fiancé, Jason Alexander; and her aunts and cousins.
After a happy early childhood in Las Vegas, her family moved to Pensacola in 1990 where Kelly attended Little Flower Elementary School and then graduated from Pensacola Catholic High in 1996. She went on to graduate from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa where she lived a few years before returning to Pensacola. Kelly worked in the legal profession as a proofreader and scopist. A scopist is a vital member of a court reporter's team who edits depositions and court transcripts to ensure their accuracy and completeness. She was highly valued for her meticulous work.
Kelly was the salt of the earth and a true gift from God. She was loved by everyone - she never met a stranger! She had an infectious smile and was joyful, optimistic, fun-loving, generous, sweet, kind, funny, and smart. She loved music, the beach, kayaking, fishing, traveling and sightseeing, Mardi Gras, Facebook, Alabama football (Roll Tide!), Bucc-ee's gas station in Robertsdale (don't ask), and her beloved cantankerous cat Jade, whom Jason has inherited (thank you, and good luck!). She loved sitting on her front porch in East Hill and watching the world go by. She loved seeing glorious sunsets on Perdido Bay when she spent the night at her parents' house. She loved her countless friends and her family, especially her brother, sister-in-law, darling niece, aunts and cousins, and most of all, Jason, the love of her life whom she adored. God led Kelly to Jason and his family, who treated her like their own, and she was fortunate beyond measure to have shared her life's journey, however brief, with Jason. Mick and Susan will be eternally grateful for the joy, love, and companionship he gave her.
Kelly left us too soon and we will miss her forever, but God is the author of our lives. He wrote her story from the moment of conception until her passing from this world at the age of 43. It was part of God's loving, mysterious master plan for her. We were blessed to have known and loved Kelly, and we take comfort in the knowledge that she will be waiting for us with open arms when we see her again.
Her parents wish to thank their dear friends, relatives, neighbors, and parish family for their prayers, well wishes, and delicious meals on wheels. You have lifted them up in countless ways when they needed you most. Mick and Susan are also grateful to Father James and all those who helped arrange and participate in Kelly's farewell celebration.
A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2021, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lillian, AL, with Father James Singarayar, HGN, celebrant.
A graveside service after the funeral will be held at Prince of Peace Cemetery in Elberta, AL, with a reception to follow at Immaculate Mary Hall at Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
