IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth Roger
Brueske
April 24, 1945 – January 24, 2021
Kenneth Roger Brueske, beloved father, husband, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021.
Ken was born to Ray and Mary Brueske in Plainview, Minnesota on April 24, 1945. He grew up on the family farm and attended Plainview schools, graduating from high school in 1963. Upon graduation with a Business Administration degree from Winona State University in 1967, Ken worked briefly in Chicago before joining the U.S. Air Force. Stationed at Hurlburt Air Force Base, he served honorably for four years. After serving his country, he married the love of his life Rae Elizabeth Williams and remained in the panhandle of Florida. He was a long-time resident of Gulf Breeze, Florida, where they raised two sons: "Peter and Paul and that is all" as he used to say.
Ken worked for the Navy Exchange for 26 years, retiring in 1997. From there he went to work for the State of Florida's Juvenile Justice Department and then the Department of Agriculture before retiring for good in 2015. After receiving his master degree, he taught Business Administration for Troy University as an adjunct professor. After retiring, Ken enjoyed going on cruises with his wife and fishing with his late brother Franklin.
He was an active volunteer for the Gulf Breeze Sports Association and served as President of the Gulf Breeze Quarterback Club. Ken was a longtime member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church. He served as President of the Krewe of Lafitte Mardi Gras organization and was named Jean Lafitte XL. Ken was an avid New Orleans Saints fan and enjoyed organizing bus trips to the games. He never passed up an opportunity to go fishing. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family, who will always remember him for his selfless "what can I do for you" spirit and fun-loving personality.
Ken is now with those who preceded him in death - his parents, Ray and Mary; his two brothers, Raymond and Franklin; sister-in-law, Evie.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rae Beth Brueske; two sons, Peter (Casey) and Paul Brueske; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Tom and Kaye Williams; sister-in-law, Rose Brueske; granddaughter, Charlotte and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the funeral mass begins at 11:00 am on Friday, January 29, 2021 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze, FL. A private graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
