Obituary

Kenneth Hendershott, 88 of Pensacola passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Mr. Hendershott was born in Brink Haven, OH to Helen Lanning on February 4, 1924. He attended Danville High School where he was President of the FFA, and Senior Class Vice-President where he played basketball and was the captain of the football team. He was remembered for having a "heart of gold". After school Ken volunteered to serve his country in the U S Army, and during WWII in the Infantry, he entered Europe in Normandy and almost made it to Berlin. He served in Europe for over 3 years. Then in 1980 Ken retired as Vice-President for the AFL-CIO, while working for the AFL-CIO Ken worked with and became great friends Sen. John Glenn (Mercury Astronaut) after retiring he moved to Venice, FL. In 1989 he moved to Pensacola to be close to his family. Mr. Kenneth Hendershott will be missed by family and friends. Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Hendershott; and daughter, Connie Hendershott. He is survived by his son, Ron Hendershott, Sr.; and six grandchildren, Kenny Hendershott (Amy), John Bowling (Kelly), Shawn Bowling (Carla), Steve Bowling (Heather), Ron Hendershott, Jr., (Tina) and Will Hendershott (Lauren); and 17 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be at 1:00pm Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Minister L. E. Wishum officiating.
