With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth Michael Whitfield, 69, a beloved and cherished husband, father, granddaddy, brother, uncle, and friend. Kenneth left this world suddenly on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
He was born on February 1, 1957, in Pensacola, FL and resided near there for all of his life. His older brother Wallace Whitfield, Jr (Cinda) and his younger brother Craig Steven Whitfield (Carolyn), reside in Pace, FL. His stepfather, Thomas Richardson, resides in Pensacola, FL. Kenneth had nieces and nephews that he loved and mentored throughout his lifetime. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Richardson and Wallace Whitfield, Sr.; also, a niece, April LeAnn Haynes.
Kenneth shared a 50-year marriage with his high school sweetheart, Helen Clare Whitfield. They made their home and raised their family in Pace, FL. They first met as young teenagers at Woodham High School and quickly became inseparable, building a life together that was filled with love, laughter, and an enduring commitment to one another. Their union was blessed with three beautiful daughters Rachel (Jay) Johnson, Lauren (Joshua) Marchlewski, and Carmen (Scott) Roby. He was a proud granddaddy to 14 grandchildren: Isabelle, Jack, Kenneth “Bay”, Georgia and Archer Johnson; Andrew, John, Isaac, Gabriel and Henry Marchlewski; Olivia, Emily, Walter, and Franklin Roby. His family was his priority, and he cherished the time spent with them.
Kenneth was known for his loyalty and dependability. He was always willing to drop everything to help someone in need (especially his family) - repairing cars, lending a listening ear, holding babies, home improvement projects ... really anything. Everyone knew they could always count on him.
He was passionate about his faith in God and often shared it with those he encountered in life. He served as a deacon and was heavily invested in the First Impressions Golf Cart Ministry at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Pensacola. He definitely possessed a servant’s heart and demonstrated this God-given gift touching the lives of countless people during his lifetime.
Though Kenneth has left this world, his light continues to shine brightly through the lives of those he touched. His legacy will continue through the lives of his beloved wife, their daughters and husbands, and his many grandchildren. His enduring love, strength of character, and unwavering faith will forever be remembered by all who knew him. Rest in peace, dear Kenneth. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
