IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kevin Kyle
Swann
May 24, 1982 – October 3, 2020
Kevin Kyle Swann, 38, of Pensacola, FL died Saturday, October 3, 2020.
Kevin was born on May 24, 1982 in Mobile, AL, and first lived in Crestview, FL near his Nanny and Papa. When he was 5 years old, he moved to Gulf Breeze, FL and developed his love for surfing, skateboarding, soccer and baseball. Kevin was always active, only slowing down to play video games.
Kevin learned to talk early and never stopped. He had a funny story or a bad joke for every occasion and never met a stranger. He would help anyone he could and was fiercely loyal to his friends and family. Kevin would take care of his family when they were sick or he would travel through the night just to sit with you during a bad time. He was always ready to give his friends a meal, ride or a place to stay if they needed it.
Kevin was also unconditionally loyal to his teams, remaining a staunch fan to the Bucs and the Noles in the bad years and the good. He could be gracious in defeat and totally obnoxious in victory.
Kevin attended high school at Boca Ciego in St. Petersburg, FL, before receiving his diploma from Pensacola State College Adult High. He worked several jobs before finding his niche as a drywaller and painter. He would often post selfies to social media from the top of a higher ladder or scaffolding, prompting his loved ones to encourage him to pay more attention to work and less to his phone.
Kevin loved poetry, whether traditional poems or lyrics to a song that spoke to his soul. Those of us who loved Kevin will continue to hear his speak to us through poetry and music. We will know he is watching over us, and encouraging us to take care of one another and to remember to laugh.
Kevin fought against depression and addiction most of his life but he was so much more. He was kind, loyal, loving, and generous. When he was little he would say he wanted to be a hero when he grew up. We hope he knows he was a hero to us.
Kevin is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Daniel Christopher and Anne Foley; maternal grandparents, James and Frances Swann; step grandparents, Robert Allen, Sr. and William and Sandra Gober.
He is survived by his father, M. Gillian Foley (Cheryl); mother, Sharon Allen (Robert); brother, Gavin Foley (Karniece); sisters, Destiny Allen, Siobhan Watson (John), Keeley Wickery (Ryne), Kendall Cox, and Kara Elmore; nieces and nephews, Marianna, George and James Smith, Devynn Elmore, Kian McNab, Tadhg, Teagan and Tate Foley, Ross Wickery, and numerous beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
A private family service was held at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Pastor Sheila Bates from Cokesbury United Methodist Church officiated.
On May 22, 2021, in celebration of Kevin's life a Paddle Out will be held on Pensacola Beach.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite animal rescue, honoring Kevin and his own rescue girl, Adel.
