Obituary

Kimberly Sue Jones, 54, died Friday evening, March 16, 2018. She passed away peacefully in her home in Pensacola, FL.

Kimberly was born at the Portsmouth Naval shipyard in Kittery, ME, she traveled the world with her Air Force family, attended Lowell H.S., in Lowell, MA, earned her G.E.D., certified in drafting and moved to Pensacola, FL in the late-80's. Kimberly, or Kim to her friends, worked an assortment of restaurant and drafting jobs before settling into her career as an Office Administrative Manager. She spent the last 10 years working for general contractor Whitsell-Green, Inc., a job she loved and people she loved even more.

When away from work, Kim enjoyed gardening, yard work, her fish, sewing, jewelry, shoes, design, craft shows, 80's rock, sitcoms, flying her kite she named Simon, eating out, talking with her relatives and friends and spending time with her boyfriend, Jeff Williams.

That tells what Kim did but cannot paint a complete picture of who she was. Her early childhood as an Air Force dependent helped develop an early bond with her siblings that would mature into a lifetime of friendship, loyalty, trust and love. If anything can be said about her family, is that they have always been there for each other. Kimberly spent countless phone hours listening, comforting and coaching not only her siblings, but a host of friends as well, even in her final days. That's the kind of thoughtful person Kim was. She put others first. She sent endless prayers for the concerns of her troubled loved ones.

She was also the kind of person that got the job done. Kim wore many hats in her previous occupation and her loyalty, attention to detail, organizational skills and professionalism were sorely missed when she was no longer able to attend work for medical reasons last December, 2017. She had genuine concern not just for the job but the people there as well. Kim truly missed working after December; her employment gave her a strong sense of purpose and gratitude.

As her boyfriend of 17 years, I've had the blessing and privilege of growing up with Kim. I had the opportunity to hear her side of the phone conversations and the end of the long work day ordeals. Kim could spend ten minutes describing a one minute encounter with a coworker. I spent years learning about her family, friends and employers, one phone call or visit at a time. Many of her friends have become mine over the years. Kim and I kept our separate lives over the years by living in our own homes and stuck to a schedule of date nights and weekend get-togethers. Many asked her over the years why we never got married. Quite simply, it wasn't broke and it didn't need fixing. Marriage would not have made me love my Sweetie Pie any more. She loved and she was loved by many.

Kim is preceded in death by her parents, Anita Biancavilla and Bruce Jones, Sr.

She is survived by her siblings; Bruce Jones, Jr., Cheryl Shankweiler, Cindy Yoxall, Jeffrey Jones, and Nadine Belanger; niece, Renee Belanger and nephews, Brandon and Jeremy Shankweiler, Shane, Slade, Jr. and Travis Yoxall.
