It is with an overwhelming sense of sorrow and a heart weighed down by grief that we come together today to honor and celebrate the extraordinary life of Dr. Kwame Asante-Nkansah, affectionately known by many as "Doc." His journey began in the charming yet vibrant town of Suhum, nestled within the Suhum Municipal District of the Eastern Region of Ghana. Dr. Asante-Nkansah was the beloved son of the late Opayin John Mensah Nkansah, who was endearingly called J.K. Mensah, and Obaapa Henrietta Adwoa Oforiwaa. Both of his parents were rooted in the tranquil and stunning landscapes of the Far Mountains of Obomeng and Obo Kwahu, which nurtured in him a profound respect and appreciation for his cultural heritage and familial legacy. As the eleventh child in a lively and loving family, he displayed an unquenchable curiosity and a remarkable intellect from an early age, characteristics that would ultimately shape his extraordinary journey throughout life.

Dr. Asante-Nkansah's educational beginnings took place at Suhum Methodist Primary School, where he began constructing the solid foundation of knowledge upon which his academic prowess would later rest. His unwavering dedication to his studies and learning propelled him to new heights, and he soon transitioned to the Presbyterian Middle School to complete his elementary education an experience during which his exceptional capabilities became increasingly apparent. Following his impressive performance in the common entrance exams, he secured a cherished place at the esteemed Prempeh College, one of Ghana's leading secondary institutions for boys. Renowned for his diligence and unwavering determination, his hard work culminated in outstanding results in his A-levels, paving the way for his acceptance into the prestigious University of Ghana, Legon.

While at Legon, Dr. Asante-Nkansah unearthed a profound passion for the field of medicine and a calling towards mentorship that would come to define many aspects of his professional life. It was during his second year that his fervor was recognized when he was officially accepted into the esteemed M.D. program at the university. After seven grueling years marked by intense study and relentless determination, he graduated with honors, ready to make a substantial impact in the realm of medicine.

Following his graduation, Dr. Asante-Nkansah began his residency at the renowned Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana. He later accepted a medical position at Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw, where he continued to refine his clinical skills and deepen his commitment to patient care. In 1989, he transferred to the Presbyterian Hospital in Donkorkrom, Afram Plains, before returning to Accra to work at the well-regarded Nyaho Clinic.

In April 1991, he migrated to the United States and settled temporarily in Maryland, where he stayed for six months while preparing for his medical board examinations. Driven by his unwavering determination, he successfully passed the exams and was subsequently matched into a Pediatric Residency program at Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey a highly respected and competitive program that welcomed his knowledge, discipline, and work ethic.

Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Asante-Nkansah chose to settle in New Jersey with his beloved family, eagerly anticipating the next chapter of his enriched life. After a few years of honing his medical skills within reputable practices, he boldly decided to establish his own private practice while simultaneously engaging in various other healthcare-related roles. Throughout his career, his dedication to mentorship remained resolute; he consistently prioritized inspiring and guiding young individuals striving to follow in his footsteps as medical professionals. He emerged as a beacon of hope and support for many, especially those coming from underprivileged backgrounds, demonstrating a profound commitment to serving as a pillar of encouragement during their journeys.

Dr. Asante-Nkansah's legacy is one of profound impact and unwavering dedication, enriched by years of devoted service aimed at uplifting and empowering others. As we gather here to reflect upon his remarkable life, we should carry forward the values he embodied: compassion, commitment, and an enduring desire to make a difference in the world. Let us honor him by continuing to inspire, guide, and uplift those around us, just as he did throughout his extraordinary journey.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; daughters, Maureen and Yvonne; brother, Issac and sister, Beatrice.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00am until Funeral Service begins at 11:00am Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
