A gentle man, Larry Drake Crossland, 72, joined together with his parents, Kone and Frances Crossland and son, Larry Drake Crossland, Jr. living with God on Friday, February 25, 2011. Larry was devoted to his wife and best friend, Deborah Risher Crossland, who he gave happiness throughout their life together. He is also survived by a daughter, Meredith Crossland and granddaughters, Madilyn, Courtney, Carleigh, and grandson, Carson of Crossett, AR. A successful honest entrepreneur, he founded Bench Advertisers and Transit Advertising Ltd., Inc. spending 40 years in the outdoor advertising industry. Larry enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, hunting and growing vegetables in his garden that he shared with his neighbors and friends. He took pleasure in his and Debbis schnauzers, Mercedes and Lexus who enjoyed their daily truck rides checking out the neighborhood. He grew up helping his dad take care of animals in The Crossland Zoo, which his father founded in Crossett, AR. Larry would want any of those who wish to commemorate his life continue his family legacy so youngsters can come and learn to love all the animals as he did. Larry was admired by his friends for his strength and courage in surviving the battle against cancer for many years, remaining positive throughout. He fought a good fight, he finished his course, he kept the faith. Visitation will be held 9-10am Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Graveside Service will follow at 10:15am Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Bayview Memorial Park. Larry was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church and Rev. Chip Hale officiating.
