Laura Wicke Blackwell, 67 of Pensacola, Fl passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015. Mrs. Blackwell was born in Pensacola on November 18, 1947. She graduated from Pensacola High School in 1966. She served in retail sales for 28 years, most of which was in cosmetics at the Naval Exchange Store in Pensacola. Most recently was employed by Allen Turner Hyundai, and because of her social and professional skills, helped salesmen sell many vehicles. Laura was a third generation member of McIlwain Presbyterian Church, and though hampered by work responsibilities was an active and faithful member. Laura was an excellent example of sacrificial love. She loved the Lord, had a servants heart and was a friend to everyone she met. Not having children of her own, her nephews, Rob and Ben Morris were the source of much joy to her and her love of pets was demonstrated by relentless attention she paid to them and the dogs and cats she adopted in her lifetime repaid her with their love and protection and devotion. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Jane (Palmer) Wicke and her husband, James Morris Blackwell, Jr. She is survived by her brother, Alfred Wicke, III (Mary Joe) of Jackson, MS; sister, Virginia Wicke Morris (Dr. Toxey Michael Morris) of Hattiesburg, MS; two nephews, Robert Michael Morris and Benjamin Alan Morris and two great nephews, Ashton and Alex Hill and their mother, Sabree Hill, all of New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm until the Funeral Service at 2:00pm Thursday, July 23, 2015 at McIlwain Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rob Looper officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to McIlwain Presbyterian Church, 1220 E.
