Laura Catherine "Cathy" Taff, 57, was born in Jackson, MS on Feb. 27, 1961, to James A. Davis and Myrna Rose nee, Bond, and died May 8, 2017. At age 2½ she was adopted by her new stepfather, Howard A. Martin, who became her beloved Daddy.

Cathy grew up in several towns in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama, graduating from Demopolis (AL) High School. She earned a degree in Visual Communication from Southern Illinois University. She dearly loved her children, music and art, and had a wicked sense of humor.

She is preceded in death by her father, Howard A. Martin.

She is survived by her son, Kyle Donovan (Haley) of Gerald, MO; her daughter, Melanie Rose Donovan Johnson (Bryan) and granddaughter Samantha Johnson of St. Louis, MO; as well as her mother, Myrna Rose Martin and brother, Joel "Jody" Martin of Pensacola; her uncle, Louis Martin (Carrie) and his son, Louis (Amye) of Covington LA, and her children's father, Shawn Donovan of Bourbon, MO.

Cathy's wishes were no services to be held and she wanted to donate her body to the Anatomical Board at University of South Alabama.

The family wishes to thank Southern Oaks Care Center for the loving care she received there.
