Laura Monette (Chumley) Sasser was born on June 18, 1965, in Indianapolis, IN, to parents, Theodore R. and Norma L. Chumley. She was a smart gal from the get-go, school at every level came easy to this budding genius. She had a passion for education and music, and always had guidance for those who needed her enthusiastic vision.

Her determination to further her education earned her a master's degree in guidance counseling from Troy State in Troy, Ala. Though she never had the opportunity to be a high school guidance counselor, Laura used her vast studies and life experiences to expertly assist those who needed someone to help navigate them through his or her life.

For her dedication to music, she was an accomplished pianist, playing at various churches and recitals from the moment she started lessons. She added choir director to her list of talents at Pensacola's Westminster Presbyterian Church, where her dad ministered for more than a decade. Laura also was an administrative assistant at various Pensacola businesses, and a valued substitute teacher throughout her adult life.

She married William Sasser in 1990; their son, Theodore (Ted) D. Sasser, was born in September 1992. Laura and Bill divorced in the early 2000s, but, oh my, Ted remained her pride and joy. A proud mom, she would tell you she thinks he is her greatest gift to this world! And we agree!

Laura lived with a big heart. Life wasn't always fair to her, but she bravely embraced every challenge. God called her Home on April 30, 2023. She is survived by mom, Norma; sister, Robyn; and son, Ted. We are absolutely certain dad and her sweet dog Vince Gill Sasser greeted her with open hearts. She is now pain free and dancing with the angels! How wonderful is that!
