Laverne Hazel Matteson, 82, of Pensacola passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2012. Laverne was born April 12, 1930 in Cleveland, OH. Laverne was the proud owner and entrepreneur of Mattesons Interior Fabrics and Design where she taught 3 of her 5 children the trade of upholstery and slipcovers. She worked hard at what she loved to do for more than 30 years. She is preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Caldwell; her sister, Clara Sayer and her brother, Ray Mustart. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 62 years, James B. Matteson; their five children and their spouses, James and Susie Matteson, Dan and Ginny Matteson, Bob and Janet Matteson, John and Ronnie Matteson and Maureen and Tim Proctor; nine wonderful grandchildren, Tiffany, Shelley, James Stewart, Amanda, Ashley, Carley, Allison, Bradley and Mallory; four great grandchildren, Riley, Melanie, Gracie and Tanner, and one more on the way. Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart on 12th Ave. with Msgr. Michael Reed, celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
