LCDR Charles "Charlie" Monroe Butts, USN (Ret.) passed peacefully at his home in Pensacola, FL at the age of 90 on Saturday, August 17, 2024, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Charlie was a retired Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his bride of 55 years, Patricia Remker Butts; his parents, Minnie and Willard Butts; his mother-in-law, Jessie Remker and his four brothers, Gene, Ernie, Jim, and Gary.

He is survived by his children, Lori Bizzell (Marc), Connie Gordon (Richard), Joann Anderson (Kenny), Steven Butts (Connie) and Lynn Olson (John); his sister, Sandy Rockwell, and sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.

Charlie married the love of his life, Patricia "Pat" at the age of 17, enlisted in the Navy and rose through the ranks to become a "Mustang" LCDR. Charlie served as a corpsman with the 1st Marine Division in Vietnam being presented among other honors, the Bronze Star and retired in Pensacola after 25 years of service. After retirement Charlie went on to work for Baptist Hospital as an X-Ray technician and oversaw the kidney lithotripsy unit.

Charlie "Pops" will be dearly missed by his family whom he was a guiding light, always there for, always putting them first. He was and will always be an inspiration to all who met him. He had a way of filling a room with his always ready smile and quick sense of humor. You just felt special in his presence. His hugs will be missed by all of us and cherished by anyone who had the privilege of receiving one, he knew no strangers.

A visitation will be held 11:00am until a Funeral Service begins at 12:00noon Friday, August 23, 2024, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Charlie will rest at Holy Cross Cemetery next to his bride "Patsy".
