Obituary

Leonard Ray Montgomery passed away on May 18, 2020. He was born on July 3, 1936 in Apalachicola, FL to John Walter (JW) and Myrtle Lillian (DePorter) Montgomery.

His father was the last Coast Guard Keeper of the St. George Island Light. Leonard lived at the lighthouse from 2 years of age until he was 6 years old when he moved to town to attend school. He visited the lighthouse each summer after that.

He served in the United States Air Force and then spent 23 years in Brazil working in different careers including Down Range Station Tech and Technical Logistics Manager.

He returned to Florida to live out his Golden Years where he met his wife Janette. They would always say each day is Another Day in Paradise.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Walter (JW); mother, Myrtle and his son, Edward Jay.

He is survived by his wife, Janette Montgomery; his daughter, Elsa Montgomery (Kent); stepchildren, Lydia Boppre (Lyle) and Patrick Riggins (Michelle) and a large extended family.
