Obituary

Lewis Jullian Collins, Jr. known as "Monk" left us peacefully July 10, 2020.

He was a lifelong resident of Pensacola, born and raised in East Pensacola Heights where he lived most of his life raising children and grandchildren. A fixture in the neighborhood, he could not go anywhere and not meet someone he knew. His love of family showed in everything he did and was a pillar of strength to all around him. He walked into a room and the mood always lightened because of his joyful attitude and playful mood. He was a graduate of Pensacola High School where he joined the Air Force when his country called.

A Korean War veteran, where he used his skills as a radar operator to work at the Naval Air Station as an instrument mechanic, retiring after 25 years.

A man not to be idle long he became a school bus driver for Escambia County Schools and drove for 10 years before retiring again. He then worked as a greeter for Walmart and moved on to work in the sports and outdoor departments there. A man loved by all who met him, he could bring a smile to everyone around.

As a retired man he started his wood shed work making all sorts of holders, frames, bird houses and plaques for everyone. His joy was in serving others and many have a lasting gift of his wood work to cherish and keep.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Collins the love of his life for 47 years; his parents, Lewis Collins (Rip) and Viola Collins (Bama) and his sister Sara Gunther.

He leaves behind a family built with his love and wisdom to carry on his legacy,= son, Lewis Collins, III(Late Sandy) of Pensacola; daughter, Debra Myers (late Dale) of Winter Haven; son, Robert Collins of Pensacola; eight grandchildren and more than twenty great grandchildren which he knew and loved.

His cremated remains will be buried in a private service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Regency Hospice, 50 Beverly Parkway, Suite 200,

Pensacola, FL 32505 and any dialysis center of your choice.

A special thank you to the staff at Fresenius Medical Care, West Pensacola for their kind expert care to a grumpy old "Gator Man". Also to Dr. Antonious and his excellent nursing staff for the best treatment care anyone can experience.

He loved his God, family and was loyal to friends. No better Man lived

as he did and all who have a memory of him will cherish it as an example to live their lives for.
