Obituary

Lillian Epley passed into the arms of her Savior on Monday, May 9, 2016 from a brief illness. She was surrounded by loved ones.

Mrs. Lillian Epley was born in Chicago Heights, IL to Philip and Mary Kvasnicka. She was the youngest of five children and the only girl. By her own admission, as a child she was a challenge for her elderly parents. Lillian met Woodrow Wilson Epley at their place of work, and married on January 4, 1947. The couple had their first two children, Lawrence and Patricia and moved from their home to care for Lillians' father, Philip who had been widowed. They lived in Chicago Heights, IL and had three additional children, Alan, Wayne, and Teresa. Mrs. Epley's husband, "Woody" died on August 23, 1965 as a result of an automobile accident, leaving her to raise her five children whose ages ranged from 11 months to 16 years. In 1974, Lillian moved to Pensacola with her two youngest children. Despite a limited education, she worked hard to support her family through real estate investments. As a single mother, she joined St. Paul Catholic Church in Pensacola while Father Sindik (now Monsignor) was the pastor. Coincidentally, her parish in her home town was St. Paul and the pastor's name was also Father Sindik. Lillian remained an active member at the church until her death. She initiated the "Pilgrim Virgin" visitations and was totally devoted to Our Lady. She also worked for 17 year as a Eucharistic minister and visited West Florida Hospital providing emotional, religious support, and administered the Holy Eucharist to the sick always promoting the Love of Our Lord and the Blessed Mother. Although a widow for many years, she was blessed with companions who became family to many of her children.

Lillian is survived by her children: Lawrence and his wife, Mary Anne, their three children, Kathryn Boehme, Bryan and Michael; Patricia Mickelson and her husband, Robert and their two girls Tracy and Angeliqua Thrasher; Alan and his wife, Becky and their son Ervin; Wayne and his wife, Linda and their sons Scott and Philip; Teresa Leslie and her husband, Jim and their children Austin, Nick and Morgan; and four great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Nathan, Charlotte and Konrad.
