Lillian McVoy Johnson, 92, native of Pensacola, FL passed away peacefully with her family at her side on July 11, 2014. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, two brothers, three sisters and one grandchild. Lillian is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Capt. Gerald M. Johnson , USN (ret); two sons, Robert S. Johnson and Walter W. Johnson (Judy); two grandchildren, Nicole Johnson and Nikolaus Johnson; brother, Thomas McVoy (Barbara); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lillian, a native Pensacolian, graduated from Pensacola High in 1940. During the war years she managed the Douglas McVoy Uniform Shop. Following the war she married Gerald in 1947. The next 30 years saw numerous duty stations and the associated travel. Lillian was the consummate Navy wife, raising 2 sons while Gerald was deployed at sea. She became an avid sports fan while raising her boys, who both were outstanding multi sport athletes. Upon retirement, Lillian and Gerald returned to Pensacola and built a home at Scenic Hills Country Club. During her retirement years, Lillian was very active, an accomplished artist, avid golfer and gardener. She participated in numerous community and club activities over the years. Lillian was a thoughtful and generous person, always standing by to help those in need. She was loved by all and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be held 5:00-6:30pm Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held 9:30am Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel with Fr. Joe Callipare celebrant. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
