Lillian Willa Taranto, 103, of Pensacola passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014. Lillian was a lifelong resident of Pensacola. She was born July 9, 1911 to Gustave and Janie Willa and was baptized at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Lillian graduated from Pensacola High School class of 1929. Upon graduation she worked at Taranto Drug Store where she met and married Salvador Taranto in 1934. After the death of her husband, Lillian worked as a nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital. After retirement, she joined the Mother Seton Guild as a volunteer and held various offices in the Guild. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Salvador Taranto in 1956; her sister, Anna Louise Lively and Mary Esther Ericson. Survivors include her three sons, Joseph (Susanne), Michael (Evelyn) and Ramon Taranto; daughter, Janey Taranto; four grandchildren, Scott (Leigh Ann), Chris (Kelli), Michael Taranto and Tracie (Brian) Boudreau; three great grandchildren, Thomas and Nathan Boudreau and Salvatore Taranto. Visitation will be held at 10:00am Thursday, November 13, 2014 with a Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00am at St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lillian's sons and grandsons. The family sincerely thanks Dr. Amos Prevatt and the nurses and staff at Sacred Heart Hospital for making our mother's final day's comfortable and peaceful.
