Obituary

On August 24, 2025, Linda Clara Criger Stephens was called home. Surrounded by those who cherished her most, she passed away in peace. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, her beautiful spirit endures in the countless lives she touched with her love.

Linda was born on 17 January 1944 in Honey Grove, Texas. She was the daughter of the late William Clarence Criger and Clara Estelle Bowie. Linda first married Leon Lloyd, and although the marriage ended, she was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Angela Crocker (Brant) and Elayna Vail (Thomas). She later met and married Marvin Henley Stephens (1938-2006), who brought with him a daughter from a previous marriage, Valerie Lewis (Michael). Soon after, Linda and Marvin welcomed a son, Gabe Stephens (Kaori), making their family complete.

Linda and Marvin's life together was filled with wonderful adventures and bold new chapters. From their starting point in Texas, they journeyed to South Carolina, then Illinois, and on to Wisconsin where—of all things—they decided to try their hand at farming. Their adventurous spirits wouldn't let them stay put for long and soon they were off to Gulf Breeze, Florida, where they started and ran a successful clothing store. Through, every move and venture, Marvin maintained his career as an automotive parts salesman; Linda kept everything else running smoothly—whether managing the family, the farm, or the store. Despite their busy life, Linda always found time for friends and family. She loved gardening, traveling, and caring for the neighborhood stray cats.

Linda is survived by her sister, Joy Smith (Jimmy), her son, Gabe; her three daughters, Angela, Elayna, & Valerie; and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Linda will be interred at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Florida.

Services will be private.
