Lisa Michele (Barrett) Lewis, 56, passed away unexpectedly on June 18, 2017, while vacationing in the Florida Keys.

Lisa was born in Chickasaw, Alabama on May 28, 1961. Her family moved to Pensacola in 1971. Lisa was a graduate of Woodham High School, Pensacola Junior College (AS) and the University of West Florida (BS). During this time she earned degrees in Fashion Merchandising and Legal Administration. She also earned a Registered Nursing Degree.

Lisa was an entrepreneur, opening a retail store, Tatters, in Cordova Square and later in University Mall. After leaving the retail business she worked as a paralegal for several prominent local law firms, but it would be nursing that would be her life's calling.

Lisa started her nursing career as a floor nurse on Sacred Heart's oncology unit. Later she worked in the Sacred Heart Medical Oncology Group's Infusion department as a certified chemotherapy nurse, where she worked until more recently taking a position in the cancer research dept. She was a skilled, caring nurse and would often spend her off hours reading about the disease and how to better care for her patients. Lisa received numerous nursing accolades, including the Nightingale Nurse Excellence award in 2016.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Juanita Barrett.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Troy; their two daughters, Lauren Lewis and Sarah Lewis; her brother, Randy (Marilyn) Barrett; their children, April (Brad) Stevens, Phillip (Julianna) Barrett, Lindsay Barrett, Kathryn Barrett and four grand nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 12:30 pm until the funeral service begins at 2:00 pm at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
