Lois Tortajada, 85, a resident of Pensacola, FL passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, while holding the hand of her husband of 58 years, Robert Tortajada Sr. as they prayed the Devine Mercy Chaplet together.

Lois was born to the late Louis and Elizabeth Beyrouty on August 7, 1936 and lived a long and beautiful life. She is preceded in death by siblings, Albert Beyrouty, Doris Beyrouty, William Beyrouty, and Louis Beyrouty.

Lois is survived by her loving husband, Robert Tortajada; her sister, Betty Kulesa and her three children: Cheryl Witt, Robert Tortajada Jr., and Carissa Carisse who have given her 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren that she loved beyond measure.

Lois was fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mother who was extremely present in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was the first to rush to a family a members' side when they were in need and fiercely stood up for the people she loved. Lois was an avid gardener and loved to invest her time and energy in helping things grow. She was known as the family cook, hosting a dinner for all her family and friends each week which we called "Pasta Night". Lois was the matriarch of a large family and she has left behind a huge legacy of selflessness. Lois was notorious for her love and generosity, opening her home and heart to anyone who entered. She was her husband's best friend and confidant, always at his side pursuing an active life. She flew with him in their airplane and raced sailboats with him even though she could not swim.

At age 55, she had an encounter with God and conversion that changed her life forever. Lois became a prayer warrior who prayed daily for her family, friends and those around her by name.  She was a praying, loving, sharing and, giving, person who loved God above all else.

Visitation will be held 5:00pm-7:00pm Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with a rosary to be prayed at 5:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00pm Friday, August 5, 2022, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. Stephen Olson celebrant. Entombment will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Following the committal, a reception will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church Parish Center.
