Lola May Gomez, 102, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, with her family at her side.

She was born in Indianapolis, IN on December 9, 1920, to William M. and Katie Thompson Stewart. Lola was a longtime and active member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She remained active in many social and civic organization including the Red Hat Society, FAEOP member, Bunco, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, USO volunteer, West Florida Hospital Volunteer, Krewe of Jesters, Krewe of Aphrodite, and Queen of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Krewe of Columbus, Council 778. She loved the occasional glass of good bourbon, and she wasn't afraid to let her opinion be known!

Lola is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry C. Gomez, Sr. (1980); her daughter, Dottie Gomez Whitt (2012); grandson, Lance Eric Whitt (1990); her two brothers, Ralph and Frank Stewart; son-in-law, Dane Steele (2022); daughter-in-law, Cathy Gomez (2020).

Survivors include her children, William "Billy" Gomez, Nancy Gomez Steele, Debbie Gomez, H.C. "Buddy" Gomez, Jr. (Liz), and Michael Gomez; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held 5:00pm-7:00pm Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00am Thursday, July 6, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Msgr. Michael Reed celebrant. Interment will follow next to her husband at Holy Cross Cemetery. She will be laid to rest with her most loyal four-legged companion, Roscoe, who passed away just months before.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
