Obituary

Doris "Louise" Glass DeLay, 96, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

On June 16, 1927, Doris "Louise" Glass DeLay was born with the sole purpose of making it a better place for everyone she came in contact with. She was the middle child of an older brother and sister, along with a younger brother and sister. They have been waiting for her in Heaven. Born in Sweetwater, AL, the family eventually moved to Robertsdale, where she graduated from high school and moved to Pensacola at 17 years old with her good friend. After a year employed at the Pensacola Naval Air Station, she started with Southern Bell, in which she had a 40-year impeccable career, retiring in 1988 as Maintenance Administrator. She met Anthony "Tony" DeLay and was married until his death in 1985. In March of 1952, she was thrilled with the birth of twin daughters, Linda and Brenda. Six years later she was blessed with a son, Michael. There was nothing more important to her than the well-being of her family. This included not just her immediate family but all of her extended family, as well as countless numbers of friends. Her quick wit kept everyone laughing. Her skills in the kitchen were unmatched, making everyone wanting seconds.

She is greatly missed and survived by her daughters, Linda Caput (Bill), Brenda Harwood (Odus), and her number one son, Michael. She was the proud grandmother of Traci Dietz (Todd), Laura Smith (Ray), Brian Caput (April), and Daniel Harwood (Jane) along with eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 10:00am until a Funeral Service begins at 10:30am Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Fr. James Valenzuela officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Bill Caput, Brian Caput, Troy Lancaster, Lance Lane, Greg Lane, and Zachary Lancaster.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Stephens and Bill Brinkman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Pensacola Florida.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Baptist Hospital ER and ICU along with those at West Florida Covenant Hospice.
