Obituary

Louise Virginia Kiser passed away on April 15, 2012. Born November 20, 1920 in North Tazewell, Virginia, the daughter of Eleanor Pearl (Saunders) and John Daniel Farmer where she grew up on the family farm before attending Tazewell Valley High, then obtaining her teaching certificate where she taught at Baptist Valley Elementary, Baptist Valley Jr. High and Bluefield College. She was an accomplished piano instructor who loved modern piano. A skillful equestrian participant, she loved showing her two horses, Maude and Duke at the local events and had a great love of all animals. She traveled extensively with her husband of 64 years throughout Europe, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Her passions were gardening, cooking floral arranging and music. She also loved literature and writing, saying her grandfather, Mcteer Saunders was a prolific writer who impassioned her with writing and philanthropy. Always generous to a fault to her children, grandchildren great grandchild and many nieces and nephews, she was always spoken of as a favorite aunt, and a sweet, caring lady. One of her favorite saying was, reach to the furthest branch of the tree, even to the point of taking a chance, for that is where the sweetest fruit of life is. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, and will truly be missed by all. She was our rock. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and dearly beloved husband Winfred H. Kiser. Survivors include; loving sons, Winfred Thomas (Carolyn) of Dothan, AL, James Richard (Ann) of Pensacola, FL and Robert Nichol (Denise) of Seminole, FL; grandsons, Jason (Carolyn), Michael Brent , Jonathan; and great-grand daughter, Campbell Elizabeth. Visitation will be held 12:30pm-1:30pm Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 1:30pm for Graveside Services at 2:00pm at Barrancas National Cemetery with Reverend Ken Griffin officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: The Marine Corps League, or Covenant Hospice. Special thanks to Dr. Hillary Hultstrand and the staff of Covenant Hospice. HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
