LTC Max H. Taylor, US ARMY (Ret.), age 82, of Navarre, FL., passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023. Max was born on February 20, 1941, to the late Nathan N. and Sallie R. Fisher Taylor in Winnsboro, LA. Max was a Senior Army Aviator and a Retired Lieutenant Colonel. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran who received several medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, and the Meritorious Service Medal.
Max was known as "Papa Max" to his grandkids and those closest to him. He loved fishing, golfing, and making things grow. Max was a direct and honest person who had his degree from the FL Institute of Technology in contract acquisition management, he used this to his advantage when buying new cars, RVs, or even negotiating over dinner at his favorite Korean restaurant. Max lived for the art of the deal. He was a friend to all animals, domestic and wild. He faced his demons head on and never lost his marbles. Max was a man of the Lord and he finished strong. Max is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Sallie Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Edna Earl Taylor; daughter, Julie Hester (Michael); son, Nathan Taylor; six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Navarre United Methodist Church, 9474 Navarre Parkway, Navarre, FL 32566. Reverend Allan McBride will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Navarre United Methodist Church "We Care Program" http://navarre.church/give.
