Lieutenant Colonel Robert Leroy Kennedy, USA (Ret.), 92, of Pensacola, FL passed on Monday, July 18, 2022.
Robert was born April 5, 1930, in Topeka, KS to Leroy R. Kennedy and Marie A. Ladner. A Chinese linguist and veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, Robert served in the Army Security Agency and worked as a civilian for the National Security Agency. He was married to his wife, Delores, for more than 70 years. He was a member and servant at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pensacola. Robert was an avid artist and one of the original cofounders of the Artel Gallery in downtown Pensacola.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Rosalie Paulson; and his wife, Delores J. Kopp.
Survivors include his sons, Mark (Lysbeth), Thomas (Linda), and James (Fadra); his daughters, Cheri (Jeff), Anita Kennedy-Muccino (Steve), Theresa D'Amico (Matt), Mary (Vince), Kathleen, Jennifer (Keith), and Christine (Adam); his 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; as well as 8 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 5:00pm-7:00pm Monday, July 25, 2022, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32504.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00am Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church, with Fr. Hank Lech celebrant. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Artel Gallery or Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Regency Hospice, The Veranda Staff, Shea and all his doctors.
